FITB Rankings

Current Rankings:

Men | Women | Boys | Girls | Veterans Men

The FITB rankings are calculated from the finishing positions known as “Final Standings” in each official FITB event. Each type of event (world, continental, regional and invitational) gives a specific amount of ranking points. Check out our guide below!

Step 1: Base Points Allocation

The Base Points Allocation gives points for each possible finishing position in a competition. It is designed to reward a high finish but to provide a fair amount for a lower one.

FITB events have a maximum of 16 teams, but we would grant 3 points for any finish below 16th if necessary.

Step 2: Competition Multiplier

Competition multipliers give each competition a “weighting” to make sure major events are worth more than smaller or more local events. Beach events and veteran events are always “3” as shown opposite.

Step 3: Calculation

Each ranking is then calculated as

(Base Points Allocation X Competition Multiplier)

for each year for each country. Only a 5-year timeframe is scored.

That’s it! All ranking tables are created in the same way, rising and falling teams are identified, and the tables are published. You’ll see some extra teams at the bottom of each ranking – these are countries that have at some point participated but have not earned any points in the last 5 years.
